The Library Board of Trustees consists of five members appointed by the City Council from the general citizenry. Members are eligible to serve a maximum of two consecutive four-year terms.
At the first Board meeting each January, the Board elects one of its members as Chairperson and another has Vice Chairperson for the upcoming year. Board responsibilities are as follows:
- Adopt rules and regulations necessary for the administration and protection of the Library.
- Advise the City Council in all matters pertaining to the Library.
- Assist in the planning of Library services for the community.
- Accept money, personal property and real estate donated to the Library.

The Library Board meets the third Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m.
