Local Rules

The U.S.G.A. Rules of Golf govern all play, and are supplemented by the following local rules
(Rule 33-8):

1.

Movable obstructions (Rule 24-1): Stones in bunkers are defined as movable obstructions (Appendix I, 5-b).

2.

Immovable obstructions (Rule 24-2) are defined as the following: artificially surfaced golf car paths and headers; roads and paths not having artificial surfaces and sides; sprinkler heads; irrigation controllers and control boxes; antenna boxes; distance yardage markers (in fairways); manholes; utility boxes; and related systems. Relief may be obtained under Rule 24-2b. The retaining wall on Hole #10 is an integral part of the golf course.

3.

Environmentally-Sensitive Areas are defined as any hole, cast or runway reasonably believed to have been occupied by or made by a burrowing owl. Play therefrom is PROHIBITED. Relief MUST betaken pursuant to Rule 25-1b or 25-1c, if located or lost therein.

4.

Water hazards (other than lateral water hazards) are defined by yellow stakes or lines, pursuant to Rule 26: When play is from the red tee on Hole #17, the water hazard on the left is a lateral water hazard.

5.

Ball drops have been established on Holes #4, #11 and #17; balls may be dropped therein when it is not feasible or practicable to proceed exactly in conformity with Rule 26-1.

6.

Lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes or lines, pursuant to Rule 26.

7.

Out of bounds is defined by white stakes and boundary fencing.

8.

Preservation of the course: Tree wells at staked trees and planted areas adjacent to the tees of Holes # 3 and #15 are defined as Ground Under Repair from which play is PROHIBITED. Relief MUST be taken pursuant to Rule 25-1. Play is also prohibited from the turf nursery on Hole #1, as it is out of bounds.

9.

Embedded Ball Rule: Anywhere "through the green", a ball which is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. (Appendix I).

10.

Bird Droppings: If a player's ball lies on, next to or has feces adhering to the ball, the player may mark, lift, clean the ball and place it within 6 inches of the original spot, no closer to the hole.

11.

Waterfowl Fencing: Fences and other devices installed around the lakes from October-March are to protect the greens from migratory birds. Relief is available within the hazard, at no penalty, or outside the hazard, under penalty of one stroke, pursuant to provisions of "Temporary Immovable Obstructions" (Appendix I).

12.Distance Measuring Devices: A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. Use of any device that measures other conditions is in breach of Rule 14-3.

Notes: (A) All yardage markers are measured to the center of the green; all par-four and par-five holes have pairs of Kirby markers in the fairway from 75-225 yards, 150-yard bushes in the rough and 100-150-200 yard reflectors (red/white/blue) on the cart paths; (B) Shoreline Golf Links may use/blend reclaimed water (tertiary effluent) for golf course irrigation purposes. (C) Minimum (environmentally-approved) levels of chemical elements are used in maintaining turfgrasses on the course. (D) Please be aware of windsurfers and boating activities alongside the tenth fairway.

The Rules of Golf address care of the course, courtesy and priority on the course. Courtesy includes safety, consideration for other players and maintaining an acceptable pace of play.

"Your position on the course is immediately behind the match in front. Not immediately in front of the match behind."
