What can I request from LINK+?

Only items listed as available in LINK+ may be requested. While reference books are searchable, they are not available for borrowing. Some DVDs, CDs, and videos are available through Link+. When you place a request for an item on Link+, this is counted as a library hold. You may only have a total of 15 holds at any given time.

Where do I find LINK+?

LINK+ is available while searching the Mountain View Public Library catalog

Click on the Search LINK+ button at the top of the search result screen. The LINK+ main catalog is also available directly at anytime at http://csul.iii.com. This direct link provides access to the entire LINK+ catalog.

How can I get started?

Borrowers need to have a current Mountain View Public Library card in good standing (no fines, overdues, etc.). Instructions are also available at the library.

How long will it take to get the item?

If the item is found at the first library, it could be ready for pickup in about 4 days. If the item is checked out or missing, it may take longer.

Where do I pick up LINK+ items? - Where do I return LINK+ items?

LINK+ items are held at the Circulation Desk in the Mountain View Public Library. The items must also be returned to the Mountain View Public Library.

How do I check the status of my request?

Go to the View Your Library Record function in the library catalog.

How can I cancel a LINK+ request?

A LINK+ request can be cancelled in the View Your Library Record option under holds. If the item has a Requested status it may be cancelled. If the item is In Transit or Recv'd the request may not be cancelled.

How do I know when the item has arrived?

You will be notified. Your can also check your library circulation record. When a item''s hold status is listed as Link+ RECVD, the item is available for pickup at the Circulation Desk.

How long will the item be held for pickup?

The item will remain at the Circulation Desk for 7 days. If not picked up by then, the item will be returned to the lending library.

How long can I keep the item?

The loan period is 21 days.

When can I renew a LINK+ item?

You must wait until 3 days before the due date before you can request renewal.

How long is the renewal period?

Two weeks from the date of renewal.

How do I renew a LINK+ item?

You may either request renewal at the Mountain View Public Library circulation desk or online.

How do I renew a LINK+ item online?

  • In the Library's online catalog, click on "View Your Library Record."
  • Click on "xx items currently checked out" and select the item(s) you wish to renew.
  • Click on the "Renew Selected Items" button. The system will NOT automatically renew the items for you but will instead request a renewal from the lending library. You need to check back later to see if the renewal has been approved. The status for the item(s) will indicate one of the following: RENEW PENDING means you should check back later; NEW DUE DATE means the renewal has been approved; RENEWAL DENIED means that the renewal was NOT approved and you must return the item(s) by the original due date.

How many times can I renew LINK+ item?

One renewal is allowed.

How many Link+ items can I borrow at one time?

Borrowers are limited to 15 Link+ items (including requests) at one time.

How much are overdue fines?

Fines are $1.00 per item per day. The replacement cost for a lost or damaged Link+ item is $115.00.
