Media Relations

MVPD recognizes the importance of establishing a positive working relationship with the media. We believe that community members are entitled to receive accurate, timely and newsworthy information from the media. With this in mind, we're committed to creating a bond of partnership and trust with members of the media.

Significant Incidents
Our Public Information Officer (PIO) will issue a press release with initial details of an incident. Press releases are routinely sent to all news outlets, including wire services. They're also posted here on our Web site. If you don't receive a press release, read it here or contact Police Records (650/903-6344, 24x7) for a FAX copy. If additional materials, such as photographs or sketches, are not available on the Web, contact the PIO for an electronic version.  If you would like to be added to our press release email distrobution list, contact PIO Liz Wylie at 650/903-6357 or at elizabeth.wylie@mountainview.gov.

If an incident occurs Mon-Sun during the hours of 8:00AM - 11:00PM but there does not appear to be a press release, please call PIO Liz Wylie at 650/903-6357 or 650/537-6927.  For incidents ocurring overnight, contact our Communications Center at 650/903-6395 for further information.

Incident Scene Access

When you arrive at an incident scene, please ask immediately for the PIO. If she is not on scene, then the highest-ranking police supervisor will meet with you, as time permits. S/he will provide initial details until the PIO arrives. We will do everything we can to provide media access and vantage points for photographs. For large-scale incidents, we will identify a media area for interviews and information.

Press Releases
The following press releases are considered public information, pursuant to CA Government Code 6254(F). Please direct any questions or comments to PIO Liz Wylie • 650/903-6357.
