On Monday, April 24 at 10:27 pm Mountain View Communications received a 911 call reporting smoke in a building at 400 Ortega Avenue.
Firefighters arrived at the scene, a three story condominium building, at 10:32 pm and a resident advised them that a pot had possibly been left on the stove.
Firefighters searched the building, located the unit with pot on the stove and controlled the fire by 11:11 pm.
The all clear, meaning everyone was accounted for and the fire was completely extinguished, was given at 11:37 pm.
There were no fatalities as a result of the fire. One female resident was transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
This incident clearly illustrates the importance of remaining in the kitchen when cooking and keeping things that can catch fire away from the cooking area.
