Business license notices

NO INTEREST OR PENALTIES WILL BE ASSESSED IF PAYMENT IS RECEIVED AFTER MARCH 31ST.

SB1186 mandated cities to collect an additional $1 fee to business licenses to increase disability access and accessibility requirements.  Effective January 1, 2018 AB 1379 increased this fee to $4.  The City mailed out business license renewals in October 2017 with the $1 fee.  After January 1, 2018 an additional $3 fee was added to accounts, in accordance with AB 1379, and may have resulted in a $3 outstanding balance to accounts.  Many applicants paid the $1 fee and it recently came to our attention that  notices were not sent to businesses for the balance.  When this was discovered, system-generated delinquent notices were sent out advising the businesses they needed to pay the fee on very short notice.

A letter explaining why the outstanding balance is due, providing businesses with additional time to pay and apologizing that the delinquent notice was sent to them, are being sent out to all the businesses that received the delinquent notice.

To pay online, please go to www.mountainview.gov/miscpayments.  A convenience fee of 2.75 percent or a minimum of $1.25 applies.

The City is very sorry for the confusion and the inconvenience it has caused to the businesses in Mountain View.
