Circulation & Fines Information


To check out materials you will need a valid Library Card.  Register for a Mountain View Public Library Card online.

Loan Periods, Limits & Overdue Fines

Mountain View Public Library offers a wide variety of materials that you can borrow. The following chart lists the types of material available, the loan period, overdue fines, and number of renewals allowed for each. Limits and fines effective December 12, 2016.

*100 is the total number of items that can be checked out on one card. DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks count toward the 100 item limit.

**DVDs and DVD sets combined limit of 30/card.

***You may attempt to renew LINK+ items once no earlier than 2 days before the due date for an additional 21 more days. The system will check with the home library first before authorizing the renewal. If the owning library denies the renewal you have to return the item by the original due date. More information on LINK+.

We do not accept replacement items. Replacement fee for lost and damaged items is the purchase price plus a $10.00 processing fee, except items borrowed through LINK+. The replacement cost of a lost or damaged LINK+ item is $115.00.

 

Payment of Fines & Fees

Library accounts with $25.00 or more in fines or fees will have borrowing privileges suspended.

Customers can pay their fines and any other fees in person at the Library or on the Library website with their Visa or MasterCard, check, cash, or Apple Pay. 

To pay online:

  1. Log in to My Library Record. Page shows itemized fines on your library account.
  2. Click on Pay Online button.
  3. If you are not paying the total amount, unselect the itemized fines and fees that you do not want to pay.
  4. Enter your billing address and credit/debit card information.
  5. Click the Submit button.
  6. The receipt is emailed if you have an email on your library record, or if you typed in an email address. If not, you can print a copy of the receipt for your records.
  7. Log out of your library record.
