It's a big year for Cops That Care -- it's our big 1-5! And with that big anniversary also comes a new venue!
Now in its 15th year, “Cops that Care” is a Mountain View Police Department Youth Services Unit (YSU) and Mountain View Police Activities League Christmas program that helps give underprivileged and low-income families within the community a very happy holiday.
Each year, the program allows children to come and meet Santa and select toys, personal hygiene items, and books. The day brings families of our community together and allows them to have a day they can enjoy together during the holiday season.
*Please note, the families involved with this program must be residents of the City of Mountain View or have children in the Mountain View/Whisman School District or at Mountain View High School. Families will be pre-selected for their participation in the 2017 “Cops that Care” program based on referrals from school officials, police officers, MVPAL, School Councilors, Community Health and Awareness Council and Community Services Agency.*
Due to the pre-selection process, tickets for families will be distributed in advance with a time slot reserved for them. Families must bring proof school enrollment and have the tickets provided to them by the Police Department the day of the event.
And yes, we're at a new venue this year! We are thrilled to announce that the event will be held at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, located at 500 Castro Street. The event will be held on Dec. 16th from 7 am to 2 pm.
This event would not be possible without you! Every year, generous donations from our community allow these children and their families o have a day to truly enjoy the holiday spirit and to be able to have a few moments together that they may not have been able to otherwise.
And since it's Cyber Monday, we thought we'd jump in and help by providing a link for you to donate! Please visit https://www.roonga.com/2017copsthatcare/... to place your donation and help a Mountain View family have a happy holiday!
Any questions? Just let us know. Thank you in advance for your generosity and for helping us help our community during this season of giving and gratitude.
