Post Date:10/05/2024 4:11 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4:36 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a mobile home fire in the 1000 block of Space Park Way. Both residents were evacuated from the home before fire units arrived.

City of Mountain View Fire Department units were dispatched at 4:36 a.m. and the first engine company arrived on the scene at 4:42 a.m. A Mountain View Police Officer arrived before fire crews and extinguished a fire in an electrical exhaust fan with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters performed an extensive overhaul by cutting open the ceiling and inspected the roof for fire extension to ensure complete extinguishment of the flames.

The residents received a $250 gift card from the California Professional Firefighters Union Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency Program.

The fire was extinguished with no injuries. The occupants were allowed to return to their home. The fire cause was determined to be a malfunctioning bathroom electrical exhaust fan. The estimated damage to the contents and structure is $10,000.
