The City Council meets regularly on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 500 Castro Street, Second Floor. Special meetings are scheduled as necessary and noticed at least 24 hours in advance. Agenda, staff reports and minutes are prepared for each meeting. Agendas list the items coming before the Council for consideration, while staff reports provide background, analysis and recommendations for each item.

Members of the public may examine the agenda, minutes and staff reports at the on the City's website and in the City Clerk's Office Friday morning before regular meeting dates.

Council meetings are cablecast live on Channel 26 on the Mountain View Comcast cable system and are replayed from time to time following Council meeting. In addition, Council Regular meetings are webcast live and archived online and available to the public to view on YouTube. YouTube users can watch by searching for the City of Mountain View or going directly to the channel by using the quick link at YouTube.com/MountainViewGov. Closed captioning is available on most City Council meeting recordings as unedited versions of computer-generated captioning, which should neither be relied upon for complete accuracy nor used as a verbatim transcript.

The Council may act on any item on the agenda, and their consideration and action is not limited by the recommendations indicated in the agenda or in the staff report(s). The Council may consider and act on items listed on the agenda in any order and thus all those interested in an item listed on the agenda are advised to be present throughout the meeting (see Council Policy A-13). The reading of the full text of ordinances and resolutions will be waived unless a Councilmember requests otherwise.

By policy, no new items of business start after 10:00 p.m., unless an exception is made by vote of the Council.
