Community involvement is vital to the City's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a more sustainable community. The City encourages you to get involved, by providing feedback to the City Council or city staff, by helping spread the word among your family, friends, and co-workers, and most importantly by taking those simple actions in your daily life that make a real difference.
Earth and Arbor Day 2024 - Rooted in Our Environment
The City's Earth and Arbor Day are combining this year for a Celebration bigger and more fun than ever Saturday April 20 starting at 10 a.m.!

Join Our Community Volunteer Group
We have formed a volunteer group to build community while supporting the City’s sustainability programs. There is no minimum time requirement -- we'd welcome your involvement for even just a few minutes a month! Learn more and sign up using our Sustainability Volunteer Group Sign-Up Form.
Collaborate With Us
Collaborate Mountain View is the City's engagement platform for sustainability efforts. This website gives community members an opportunity for quick, easy engagement with the City. Get updates on sustainability projects (e.g. buildings, energy, zero waste, transportation), provide input, share stories, answer surveys, and more. Register for Collaborate Mountain View!

Start a Cool Block Team
The City of Mountain View has launched a program for residents, and we’d love your participation. The Cool Block program focuses on three main themes: disaster preparation and resilience, sustainability, and community building. Cool Block engages a team of neighbors living on the same block or in the same building to tackle these topics together through 8 structured and collaborative meetings over the course of approximately 5 months. 50th Anniversary Earth Day Resource Guide
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2020, the City of Mountain View’s Sustainability team worked with 29 other Bay Area organizations and four City of Mountain View divisions to create th Earth Day 2020 Resource Guide for you. It is full of actions to take from home, videos to watch, activities to do with kids, resources to help you save on utility bills, and more. Take action today!
