Introducing the new MountainView.gov, which debuted on May 17. 

Over the next several weeks, City staff will fix issues, complete content updates and enhance functionality on the new website.

In the meantime, take note of the following:

• Use the City's search engine. It will work fully within a few days after launch and continue to improve over time. External search engines like Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo take several weeks to reindex our website. That means you may see "Page Not Found" errors in the meantime.
• Update your bookmarks. While the City's homepage (MountainView.gov) is still the same, links for all the other webpages have changed.
• Sign up to receive City news and information via email. The City's new email notification system now allows you to subscribe to City news and information - such as news releases from the City, Fire Department and Police Department, updates, newsletters, event announcements, and public meeting details - all in one location and by topic. Subscribe now.
• Report broken links. Staff is working quickly to update links. This will take a few days to complete. If you find any broken links that were missed, report them by using the Website Feedback form or the "Feedback" link found on every page.

Your patience is appreciated during this transition.

About the Website Redesign

The City website redesign project involved the replacement an eight-year-old City website as well as the creation of dedicated sites for Economic Development (EconDev.MountainView.gov), the Mountain View Public Library (Library.MountainView.gov) and the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (MVCPA.com). 

The new MountainView.gov aims to enhance the City’s ability to connect and share information with the community through a:

• Visually appealing site that is user-centric with intuitive navigation;
• Improved search functionality;
• Advanced email notification customization;
• Upgraded web accessibility for better online inclusion; and
• Responsive design that automatically adapts to various devices, including desktop, tablet and mobile.

Staff received input from hundreds of users during beta testing and made enhancements, when possible, in preparation for launching the new website. Learn more about the beta testing that took place in April 2023.

Continuous Improvement for Digital Experience

Meantime, more improvements for accessing City services online are in the works. On April 3, 2023, a new online permits platform called ePermitsMV became a one-stop-shop for anyone seeking building permits from the City, providing easier electronic submission and 24/7 access to permit status.

In addition, the first City of Mountain View Development Permits website is under development for an improved customer experience. This specialized site will provide a comprehensive online “how to” guide to permits and development requirements and the corresponding review process. The Development Permits site is anticipated to launch within the coming months.
